Qualifications, Training & Experience
I am a qualified, experienced therapist offering Individual, Relationship, Couples and Marriage Counselling. I am a British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) Accredited Counsellor and a registered practitioner on the BACP Register. The Register was set up by the Department of Health and is accredited by The Professional Standards Authority for Health and Social Care.
As a therapist, I have had a broad experience of life. A Business Studies Graduate, a practicing Mediator and have held Managerial posts within Industry and the NHS in the UK.
I hold a Diploma in Psychodynamic Counselling (WPF, London) and a Certificate in Couples Counselling. Prior to 2010 for 11 years I worked on a Voluntary Basis as a Counsellor within a BACP accredited counselling service in Swindon, Wiltshire. I have been in Private Practice since 2010 and had a Practice in Marlborough and Swindon up to October 2015. From July 2013 to October 2015 I provided counselling support for EAP (Employee Assistance Programmes) providers within the Wiltshire area whose clients worked within the Public and Private Sector. I was the lead Counsellor providing an EAP service to a third level institution for the period 2011 to 2013 within the Wiltshire area
My Approach
Counselling can be helpful in developing a deeper understanding of ourselves and our relationships with others. My approach is Psychodynamic and I offer a relationship that is compassionate, respectful and collaborative. As a professional and experienced counsellor I have extensive training in human behaviours and can offer insight into complex personal issues. I aim to work with clients so they can explore the possibility for change, to find their own solutions and look at how this can be achieved in therapy. If counselling is not the preferred choice I will sign post the client(s) to alternatives which may include other outside Agencies or Professionals.
I have a current and up to date DBS disclosure and adhere to the British Association of Counselling & Psychotherapy Code of Ethics. I engage in continuous CPD (Continuing Professional Development) training to regularly update and enhance my skills through specialist courses and conferences. I adhere to client record keeping in accordance with the Data Protection Act and EAP providers requirements
